How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We both worked for a local office furniture dealership for 7 years together when we decided to start an installation company. We basically managed this part of the dealership during these years. Bob Huckaby has been in this line of business for over 50 years and Wayne Braun for 44 years.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
First has always worked very close with the local dealerships and we send our lead installers to service schools that are instructed by the dealers manufactures. We have more factory trained installer in more product lines than other companies in Portland. We have always offered First class service and have had the same ownership for 34 years.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
First has our main office on NW Yeon Avenue in 24,000 square feet, another location on NW Yeon Avenue in 24,000 square feet and an 80,000 square feet warehouse on NW Nicolai. Everything is stored on load rack giving us up to 500,000 square feet of storage. We also have a project building on NW Yeon one mile from our main office.

All three of our locations have ease of access. We are located in the NW Portland Industrial area. The 405 freeway connects with NW Yeon Avenue.
What type of payments do you accept?
We take Visa, Mastercard and American Express. We are also set up with our bank for EFT transfers and take cash and checks.
Which areas do you service?
The larger part of our company business is in the States of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. We have completed installations in 33 of the 50 states in the United States.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Bob Huckaby and Wayne Braun are the owners of First, Inc. Mike Millican is our General Manager and Stacy Huitinga is our Controller.
What are your hours of operation?
We are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Most projects are completed between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM Monday through Saturday.Our office is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
We get compliments quite often on how professional our staff operates and their appearance. It is always great to hear how much our employee's are appreciated by our customers.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Year ago one of our clients who was on a tight schedule made the comment in a meeting that any schedule can be made because there are 24 hours a day and 7 days in a week.
